Biography
Dr. Soumik Roy is currently working as a Professor at the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Tezpur University, Assam, India. By accepting the duties and responsibilities of being the Head of the Department, he served the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tezpur University as well. He was conferred with the doctorate degree from Tezpur University, India in 2011 for his research related to “Modeling and Simulation of Artificial Synapse” in the field of Neuroengineering.
Prof. Roy has completed the degrees of Master of Technology in Electronics Design & Technology from Tezpur University in 1999, and Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Jorhat Engineering College in 1995. Being an active Life Member, Prof. Roy has been associated with the “Indian Academy of Neuroscience” and in addition, he had served Nagaland University as an expert member for the Board of Undergraduate Studies in Electronics & Communication Engineering.
He is currently serving various job roles as Project Investigator for AICTE funded projects; Aakash Coordinator for Aakash Project of NME-ICT, IIT Bombay; Remote Center Coordinator for NME-ICT & ISTE STTP of IIT, Kharagpur; Chief Coordinator for E & ICT Academy, IIT Guwahati; Project Investigator & Head for Training & Infrastructure of MSME sanctioned projects of CIIE, etc. Being the Principal Investigator, he has been affiliated with a start up project funded by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) which is being incubated at Technology Incubation Centre, IIT, Guwahati currently.
His research interests include domains such as Neuro-engineering, Healthcare, Hydroponics, Biomedical Engineering, Machine Learning, Digital System Design, Instrumentation, Internet of Things, Computer Vision, etc. So far, he has 13 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, and about 17 publications in peer-reviewed book chapters and conferences.
